The Kano Government College football team is expected to travel to Abuja ahead of the national inter-secondary schools Under-15 soccer tournament, scheduled to hold from October 24 to November 1, 2024. The competition, organized by the Nigerian School Sports Federation (NSSF) under the leadership of its President, Olabisi Joseph, has attracted schools from across the country.
According to Ibrahim Bello, head of school sports for the Kano State Ministry of Education, preparations for the championship have commenced to ensure the state excels in the tournament. The boys have already begun rigorous training, twice a day, to emerge victorious. Bello commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and the state Commissioner of Education, Alhaji Umar Haruna Doguwa, for their unwavering financial and moral support.
Bello charged the boys to do everything possible to ensure the state's success in the competition, assuring them that with their commitment and determination, "the sky will be their limit."
However, NSSF President Olabisi Joseph warned participating schools to avoid fielding overage players, emphasizing that such behaviour will not be tolerated during the championship.
