In an thrilling finale, Abba Gida Gida FC from Kano State clinched the coveted U-20 President Peace Cup title, defeating Alkhairat FC of Sokoto State 4-2 at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano on Sunday August 11, 2024.
The highly anticipated match, organized by the African Youth Sports Federation (AYSOF), saw both teams display exceptional skill and determination. However, Abba Gida Gida FC's superior performance earned them the championship title.
The Kano State Commissioner of Youth and Sports Development, Honourable Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso, who was represented by Acting Chairman Sports Commission Malam Bala Sani, presented the trophy to the winners. In his remarks, he congratulated both teams on their outstanding display of sportsmanship and commended AYSOF for organizing a successful tournament.
AYSOF Kano State Chairman, Shehu Usman Yola, expressed his gratitude to the participating states and the Kano State Government for hosting the historic event. He praised the teams for their impressive performance and dedication to the sport.
The U-20 President Peace Cup has provided a platform for young footballers to showcase their talents, and Abba Gida Gida FC's victory marks a triumphant conclusion to the tournament.
