The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano State Command, has honoured Alhaji Ibrahim Shitu Chanji, Chairman of Barau Football Club, as a Peace Ambassador in the war against drug abuse. This recognition was bestowed upon him during a courtesy visit to his office by the NDLEA Kano State Commandant, Abubakar Idris Ahmad.
In a press release signed by the club Media Officer Ahmad Hamisu Gwale, on Wednesday, 17th July 2024, revealed that the Commandant emphasized the urgent need for collective action against drug abuse among teenagers, describing it as a ticking time bomb. He pledged the agency's support for Barau FC, deploying personnel to their home matches in Kano State. The NDLEA also seeks to establish a common forum for sensitizing players, students, and the public about the dangers of hard drug use.
Ibrahim Shitu Chanji expressed his gratitude for the honour and reaffirmed his commitment to the campaign against drug abuse. He was accompanied by team officials, including Abbakar Saddiqu, Jabir Hassan, and Bilyaminu Umar.
